  3. Surendra Prashad
  4. Abid Ishmile

The club has an outstanding balance of nearly $900.00 to the league. The money owed are the league fees for the team that participated in the 2006 season.

Nitesh Patel, who was ineligible for an executive position refused to hand over the dues ($2,600.00) he collected from the players to Yusuf Patel, the interim treasurer. He effectively denied the players who paid him their dues the rights to attend a meeting to discuss and resolve conflicts.

The meeting was held by the financial members (mostly social members) whose dues were deposited in the accounts of the club and Ralph Tirbeni was elected treasurer.

The social members, who are die hard cricketers and supporters resolved to let the 2 hard ball teams compete in their respective leagues, anticipating that the conscience of Nitesh Patel will soften and hand over the money collected.

However, Nitish Patel paid the  Southern Ontario Cricket Association (SOCA) their fees and hoared the rest of the cash that was destined for Hamilton & District League and GRCA. That team did excellent and through a series of miscommunications directly and indirectly, the semi-final between Cambridge CCC and Crescent CC was not played; Crescent won by a walk over.

With the league fees not paid and over $2000.00 owed to GRCA for Grass Cutting dues, the executives called upon the social membership to at least help in the payment of the Grass Cutting dues. A dance was organised and the over $2000.00 was raised to pay GRCA. The members refused to pay the league fees they had not incurred to Hamilton & District League.

The club's secretary, appealed to Southern Cricket Association to ban the players whose dues were not deposited in the club's accounts. The following are the email extarcts between the club secretary and the SOCA, and the reply from SOCA secretary, Mr. Yogesh Shah after the OCA was asked to intervene:

You may be presented a list from Nitesh Patel at the meeting justifying that the above names paid their monies. From that list he will supply, he only gave us $1260:00. (Those people’s monies who we received are not on the above list.) The rest of the money he kept for reasons other than that of cricketing costs. I will forward that list to Yogesh Shah to get a preview. We pleaded with individuals whom paid Nitesh to ask him for their money back, but they failed to do so. Our conclusion then is that these individuals are interested in the motives of Nitesh Patel and Co.

We will not be attending the meeting because we cannot pay the league fees. We currently owe league fees to Hamilton and District league too. Our grass cutting expenses for 2006 season was in excess of $2000.00, league fees over $1600.00, users fees $500.00, just to give the basics.

We are in the process of building a team with players whose ambition is to play cricket, not politics. So far we have 7 persons outside of the above names in the list who are committed to pay their money up front. We are trying our best to find another 8 by the time you have your spring meeting so we can participate in 2007 season.

In the meantime, we will be holding dominoes competitions from January-May 2007 to raise enough money pay the 2006 fees for both leagues. Our dance was successful, and I implore SOCA members to participate in our dominoes competitions. It is in the interest of cricket. Interested persons can contact me for further details.

We are also promoting softball cricket for individuals who do not feel comfortable with harddball. We currently have two 15 member squads. Anyone who wants further details for 2007 softball season can contact me.

Lots ah cricket fi 2007 season man!!!

Sincerely.

Lall Persaud

Dear Ranjit, Mike

I have following facts for your information regarding to Cambridge Team

1. Cambridge team is in good standing as far as SOCA is concern.

2. We received an email from Mr Lal asking for not allowing 25 of their members to play with SOCA. Email was discussed at SOCA 2006 Fall Executive meeting. Since Mr Nitesh Patel paid the fees to SOCA and not Mr Lall, We did not recognise that communication. (PS: When 25 player do not pay the fees, team management should step out)

3. SOCA will consider any action, if requested by Nitesh Patel and/or Usman Lalva who represent Cambridge Sports CC at SOCA.

4. As per my information team which played with Hamilton last year, is playing at EDCL this year.

5. Neither team is using the cambridge ground.

Regards

Yogesh Shah

Secretary, SOCA

Subject: RE: Fw: Cambridge CCC players playing in SOCA

Dear Mr. Shah, Ranjit and Mike,

I am surprised at Mr. Shah’s “facts”. Mr. Shah and I had several frank discussions in which I conclude his integrity is in tact, until something dramatically changed his course in his last mail to Ranjit.

I do not understand why this beating around the bush when Mr. Shah has been informed every step of the way. All we are asking is that money was collected for the purpose playing cricket in 2006 in the name of Cambridge Community Club and we did not receive it. As a club, we still owe H & D 2006 league fees, had to do frantic fund raising to pay $2000.65 in grass cutting fees to GRCA and is yet to receive a receipt from SOCA for 2006 fees..

Let me clarify Mr. Shah’s points.

1                      Mr. Shah failed to disclose that the Cambridge Community Cricket Clubparticipated in the SOCA 2006 season and not the Cambridge Sports CC. Can Mr. Shah state that Cambridge Community Cricket Club is in good standing with SOCA for the record?

2                     Will Mr. Shah please provide us with a copy of the mail in which, and I quote him “… Mr. Lal asking for not allowing 25 of their members to play with SOCA”? I actually wrote, “This is to remind you that the following members participated in SOCA games 2006 season and have not paid their membership dues to the Cambridge Community cricket club.” The “facts” of Mr. Shah is therefore a fabrication, and an apology to the effect will be welcomed.

3                     Still Shah’s point 2, I sent an email to Mr. Shah informing him that Mr. Yussuf Patel is our interim treasurer and that Mr Nitesh Patel is disqualified as treasurer by virtue of Nitesh not paying his 2005 dues. ( I will be supplying a copy of that mail) Mr. Shah exhibited his integrity and a man of his words when he could not meet Yussuf at the appointed time, called me to receive the cash for grass cutting fees for hosting the representative games on June10-11 2006. Why Mr. Shah compromised protocol and accepted payment from Nitesh Patel? Can someone disprove me of collusion between the two?

4                     Still on point 2, I submitted a list of members who paid Nitesh their fees, which Nitesh hoarded. (I will be forwarding the email transaction between Nitesh and Yussuf). How can Mr. Shah justify his post script “when 25 members do not pay the fees, management should step” in view of the entirety of the situation, and in the same breath collude with Nitesh Patel? In your honest opinion, Mr. Shah, will you justify that you receive cash from funds of Cambridge Community Cricket Club and at the same time do not give a damn if H & D does not get their dues a fair transaction? Since you have such command over Nitesh, can you see to it that he pays H & D the league fees which he collected for last year? If you can achieve that feat this whole ballyhoo is over; with your integrity restored!!!!! Or are you going into the closet again, “I don’t want to get involve, that is your club business?” Then later, “I can help you sort out things in your club, give me call or send me a mail anytime.”

5                     I do not have a problem with Cambridge Sports CC playing in SOCA, but how do you justify that members of Cambridge Sports CC played under the Cambridge Community CC which bore the cost and Nitesh hoarded the money in collusion with SOCA? (He paid you to placate you and ignored H & D because Yusuf plays in H & D; that is collusion).

6                     Your information about EDCL is partially true. Members who represented SOCA played in H & D as well. (I will be pursuing the matter from H&D level since you are unwilling to accept protocol. Your half truth about the H&D team will be exposed). Members who do not wish to be embroiled with Nitesh hoarding have been advised to play in the EDCL because it does not fall under the OCA, CCA umbrella. Did you forget how much was done to get Abdullah to practice? Did you know that a player is playing for Brantford?

7                     What do you mean that neither team is using the ground? Are you insinuating that Cambridge Community Cricket Club does not use the field atDumfries Conservation area? Your assumption that management should step out when 25 members do not pay their fees is unsuitable for a man your calibre. There were 41 other members in 2006 that paid fees under various membership clauses. Are you insinuating that management should step aside because Nitesh confides in you? There are so far 34 paid members who used the park for friendly and softball games for 2007. Why are you and Les Burnett excluding the fact to the stakeholders that GRCA provided you information that we have a full schedule for the ground in favor of justification of your collusion with Nitesh Patel?

Looking forward to clear the bushes,

L D Persaud

Secretary
